Metz is located in northeastern France, in the Grand Est region, near the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. It is the capital of the Moselle department.
The Pope will set off on his journey to the city at 7:40 AM from Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées International Airport. Arrival at Metz-Nancy-Lorraine International Airport is scheduled for 9:20 AM.
Important Meetings
The first event featuring the Pope will be an interreligious meeting at the Robert Schuman Convention Centre in Metz at 10:00 AM. Metz is closely associated with the Venerable Servant of God of the Catholic Church Robert Schuman, one of the most prominent figures of post-war Europe.
At 11:00 AM, the meeting “At the Roots of Europe – For Peace and Unity” is scheduled. It will take place once again at the Robert Schuman Convention Centre.
Eucharist at the Conclusion of the Journey to France
The culminating event of Leo XIV’s stay in Metz, and thus in France, will be Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Stephen at 4:00 PM.
At 6:30 PM, the farewell ceremony will begin at Metz-Nancy-Lorraine International Airport, after which the Pope will depart for Rome at 7:00 PM, thereby concluding his fifth international apostolic journey.
The Pope is expected in Rome at 8:50 PM.
