Due to the need for further excavation to search for possible remains of victims of 9/11, lane closures will be implemented by the New York City Department of Transportation along West Street, between Liberty Street and Vesey Street, in the northbound direction. The lane closures will be in effect 24-hours a day for a period of five weeks, starting April 9th and ending May 13th.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes or use mass transit. Traffic Enforcement Agents will be stationed at critical intersections
to maintain a safe flow of traffic. Variable Message Signs will be used along major highways and local streets to alert motorists of the lane closures and alternate routes. Alternate route signage will be provided in areas adjacent to West Street.
