Weekend Street Closures – July 21 – July 22

There are closures in the vicinity of Grand Central Terminal because of the steam pipe explosion on Lexington Avenue. Please visit nyc.gov or call 311 for updates.

One tube of the Battery Park Underpass (between Joe DiMaggio Highway and FDR Drive) will be fully closed at a time (usually southbound Joe DiMaggio to FDR) Sunday nights to Friday mornings 10pm to 5am to install electrical conduit by NY State DOT until the end of July.

The inbound (north side) of the Hamilton Avenue Drawbridge over the Gowanus Canal between Court Street and Smith Street in Brooklyn will be closed until September 3. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the south side of the bridge. There will be three lanes inbound, one outbound 6am to 10am weekdays, and two lanes in each direction open to traffic all other times. Motorists should expect delays and plan an alternate route.

Mulberry Street between Broome Street and Canal Street in Manhattan will be closed Friday 5pm to midnight, Saturday 11am to midnight, and Sunday 11am to 10pm for the Mulberry Street Pedestrian Mall until October 7.

Clay Avenue between 173rd Street and Claremont Parkway in the Bronx will be closed through Monday, July 23 11am to 6pm for the Bronx Dominican Festival.

153rd Street between Park Avenue & Morris Avenue in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday for the Greater Universal Baptist Church Festival.

Veterans Avenue between Avenue T and East 71st Street in Brooklyn will be closed 11am to 6pm Thursday through Sunday for the Gioiosa Marina Festival.

The following street closures are scheduled for Saturday, July 21:
* 4th Avenue between Astor Place & 5th Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the East Village Visiting Neighbors Fest.
* Broadway between Houston Street & Grand Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the International AIDS Prevention/Names Project Festival.
* 14th Street between 7th Avenue & 8th Avenue in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the St. Bernard Church Festival.
* West 10th Street & Stillwell Avenue between Surf Avenue & the Boardwalk in Brooklyn will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Siren Music Festival.

The following street closures are scheduled for Sunday, July 22:
* 7th Avenue between 47th Street & 57th Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Motion Picture Club Fair.
* Lexington Avenue between 48th Street & 63rd Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am-6pm for the ES Rezoning Alliance Festival.
* The northbound West Side Highway/Henry Hudson Parkway from 57th Street to Gunhill Road, and 72nd Street from the West Side Highway to Central Park will be closed 6am to noon for the NYC Triathlon.
* Grand Concourse from 180th Street to 161st Street in the Bronx will be closed 1pm to 5pm for the Bronx Dominican Day Parade.
* Northern Boulevard from 69th Street to 90th Street in Queens will be closed noon to 2:30pm for the Columbian Day Parade.
* Bedford Avenue between Metropolitan Avenue & North 9th Street in Brooklyn will be closed 11am to 6pm for the North Brooklyn Development Corp. Festival.

Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are issued either by NYPD or the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit (CAU).
