There will be closures southbound on the FDR Drive from July 30 to August 12 to facilitate maintenance activity. One of three lanes from East 96th Street to East 34th Street may be closed 11pm to 5:30am weekdays, 12:01am to 6am Saturdays, and 1am to 11am Sundays. A full roadway closure will occur 1am to 5am weekdays, 2am to 7am Saturdays, and 2am to 8am Sundays. During the full roadway closures, the 3rd Avenue Bridge exit to the FDR Drive and the FDR Drive entrances at East 92nd Street, East 73rd Street and East 63rd Street will be closed. Motorists should plan alternate routes or follow posted detour along southbound 2nd Avenue.
The inbound (north side) of the Hamilton Avenue Drawbridge over the Gowanus Canal between Court Street and Smith Street in Brooklyn will be closed until September 3. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the south side of the bridge. There will be three lanes inbound, one outbound 6am to 10am weekdays, and two lanes in each direction open to traffic all other times. Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate route.
The 178th Street exit ramp from the eastbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge will consist of one 13 foot lane from 10am Friday until 1pm Sunday to facilitate Port Authority maintenance work.
Mulberry Street between Broome Street and Canal Street in Manhattan will be closed Friday 5pm to midnight, Saturday 11am to midnight, and Sunday 11am to 10pm for the Mulberry Street Pedestrian Mall through October 8.
Amsterdam Avenue between West 190th and West 193rd Street in Manhattan will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm for the Dominican Festival.
The following street closures are scheduled for Saturday, August 11:
* Greenwich Avenue between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Log Cabin Republican Club Festival.
* University Place between Waverly Place and 14th Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Village Visiting Neighbors
Festival.
* 23rd Street between 8th Avenue and 9th Avenue in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen Festival.
The following street closures are scheduled for Sunday, August 12:
*Madison Avenue between East 42nd Street and East 57th Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Workmen’s Circle
Festival.
* Sixth Avenue between West 36th and West 59th Streets, West 59th Street between Sixth Avenue and Central Park West, and Central Park West from West 59th Street to West 62nd Street in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Dominican Day Parade.
* East 60th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue in Manhattan will be closed 11am to 6pm for the East Sixties Neighborhood Association Festival.
* Avenue U between West 6th Street and West 8th Street in Brooklyn will be closed 11am to 6pm for the San Gandolfo Feast.
* Steinway Street between 28th Street and 34th Street in Queens will be closed 11am to 6pm for the Steinway Street Bid Street Fair.
Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are issued either by NYPD or the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit (CAU).
