In many cases, the match was a microcosm of what City’s season had been up until now. Raheem Sterling opened the scoring with a fine finish, but then the home side were pegged back by a couple of brilliant goals by Falcao and Mbeppe. The former’s brilliant chip over Caballaro also included bullying John Stones, who has been heavily criticized already this season. However, City were able to score three unanswered goals after they were down 2-3, finishing a performance which saw them defensively look as poor as they have been all season, but offensively brilliant.
The Manchester side are certainly favorites to go forward now, but a draw with PSG, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich may look incredibly difficult for the citizens to successfully negotiate the tie.
