New York. Violinist Hanna Lachert introduces the work and story of fellow violinist Henryka Tronek.

Ms. Tronek will perform (program below) and present the history of her family; namely her mother Halina Kowalska, a remarkable Polish-Jewish cellist.

About Henryka Tronek
Henryka Tronek was born to a well-known musical family in Warsaw. She received her first violin lessons at the age of six with Professor Helena Zarzycka. After high school she was awarded a scholarship for the music academy in Leningrad where she studied with Prof. Michail Wajman. During this time she had many concerts in Poland and the Soviet Union. Afterwards, she accepted an invitation from Andre Gertler to study in Brussels at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. She received First Prize for violin and a diploma with honours in chamber music.

From 1974-2009, she was engaged as 1st violinist in the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and in 1981 won an international competition for orchestral musicians.

Henryka Tronek has played solo and chamber music concerts throughout the world including Europe, Japan, China, the USA, and South America. She specializes in virtuoso pieces that have been forgotten over the years but are now beginning to be played again.
