A victory for Arsenal will surely consolidate their spot at a champion’s league spot, while putting Liverpool further behind one of their rivals. Even worse would be Manchester United beating Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa, a very likely scenario, on the same match day.
This result (alongside a loss against Arsenal) would put Liverpool 7 points off the pace for a Champions League spot. Liverpool need a result, at least to keep any gap their rivals may open up to a minimum.
