Aleksander Jachniewicz is a big dreamer, driven by several passions: architecture, science, photography, and art. His role model is Thomas Edison who continued to create his visions, undeterred by setbacks or criticism. He can fix anything, and especially enjoys taking castaway materials and giving them new life and purpose. He conceptualized a house in the shape of a dome as a college student (in Poland), and first saw a geodesic dome house in California decades later. He began to build his own dome in the Catskills when he retired, and was his own carpenter, electrician, and plumber for the seven-year project. His wife, Teresa has been his assistant throughout the entire process. He has also been working on inventions that may one day make life better—for people, as well as the environment. He has been collecting both his daughter’s and son in law’s artwork for several years and is now presenting it in his house and on the property. It is with great sadness, that due to unforeseen circumstances, Aleksander will be forced to sell or rent his house in the near future.
