For the three goals Bayern scored, James Rodriguez played a crucial role in each of them. For the first goal, the Columbian was able to force a handball off of the Brazilian defender Naldo. Robert Lewandowski converted this penalty to open the scoring for Bayern. Later, Bayern were able to force a turnover in possession from Schalke, Tolisso was able to find James in space who was able to finish off the play with a 2nd, close range goal. A third goal was found by Vidal, when James lifted the ball over the Schalke defense in the 18 – yard box. The Chilean midfielder converted the lofted pass with a precise volley.
