The recall affects model years 2006 and 2007 of five SUVs: Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

GM notified the agency on August 15 of a problem with the electrical system on the SUVs. Fluid can enter the driver’s door, causing corrosion that may lead to a short in the circuit board that controls the power door lock and power window switches.

“A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury,” the NHTSA said.

GM, the largest US automaker, is still finalizing the recall plan and has not yet notified the owners of the vehicles, it said.

The Detroit, Michigan-based company has made no announcement of the recall.
