“Former President Jimmy Carter is feeling normal this morning,” spokeswoman Susan Christopher said in a statement, after Carter spent the night at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

“His doctors at MetroHealth Medical Center recommended additional observation during the day. He looks forward to resuming his schedule as soon as possible,” Christopher said.

Carter, 85, on Tuesday was described as having been sickened by an “upset stomach” during a flight to Cleveland.

Aides had said he was expected to be well enough to make appearance to promote “White House Diary,” his 26th book, an account of his 1977-1981 presidency, in Washington Wednesday.
