Papal audience for Cardinal Czerny
As Cardinal Czerny informed, on May 3, Leo XIV received him in audience. The meeting concerned the development of artificial intelligence, its increasingly widespread use, its impact on man and humanity, as well as the Holy See’s concern for respecting the dignity of every human person, especially in relation to integral human development. As a result, the decision was made to establish a Commission for Artificial Intelligence – Vatican News reports.
Establishment of the Council
The document on this matter, published today, was signed on May 12. As Cardinal Czerny informs, the Commission will consist of representatives from four Dicasteries: for Integral Human Development, for the Doctrine of the Faith, for Culture and Education, for Communication, as well as the Pontifical Academies – for Life, for Sciences, and for Social Sciences. Each of these institutions will delegate one representative to the Council. The term of office for the Council and its members will be one year, with the possibility of extension. The Dicastery headed by Cardinal Czerny will coordinate the work of the Commission. The Commission – as stated in the communiqué – will also deal with the use of artificial intelligence in the Vatican.
