This is important information for pilgrims. As informed by the Communication Office of the Fabric of Saint Peter, the institution overseeing the Basilica, a new daily opening schedule will be in effect for the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican starting June 1, 2026.
The Basilica will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Plan to arrive earlier
However, the last entry for pilgrims will be possible until 7:15 PM, depending on the number of visitors and the estimated waiting time for security checks. The aim is for everyone, after entering, to have a moment for prayer and reflection, and to visit the more important places in the temple.
For this reason, the Fabric of Saint Peter encourages all visitors to plan their arrival sufficiently in advance to be able to visit the Basilica calmly and comfortably.
