On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the XI edition of the Davidic Psalms Festival took place at the Sports Stadium in Kolbuszowa – a unique musical and spiritual event that has for years combined Christian and Jewish traditions. It is an opportunity to commemorate Poles who saved Jews during World War II. It promotes universal values flowing from the Book of Psalms.
The main theme was inspired by the commentaries of St. John Paul II on the Psalms, which he delivered during general audiences for nearly 15 years. As festival director Bogdan Romaniuk emphasized, the teaching of the Pope from Poland and his unique relationship with the Book of Psalms remain an inexhaustible source of prayer and spiritual reflection.
During the concert, exceptional soloists representing various musical styles performed. The audience listened to pieces performed in Polish and Italian, as well as premiere arrangements, duets, and joint performances prepared especially for this year’s edition. The festival’s artistic director, Michał Jurkiewicz, pointed out that the event’s music stems from the universal message of the Psalms – a book common to Judaism and Christianity. It has built bridges of understanding between people for centuries.
Piotr Cugowski, Halina Mlynkova, Janusz Radek, Basia Giewont, Izabela Szafrańska, Małgorzata Boć, TAU, Ricky Lion, Michał Stochel, Ilaria Della Bidia, and Joshua Aaron – these artists, among others, performed for the audience. The concert program included original compositions prepared specifically for the Davidic Psalms Festival. The Artur Malawski Podkarpackie Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Janusz Wierzgacz, was also present. The artists were also accompanied by the Uni Jazz Voices choir from the University of Rzeszów.
The honorary patronage over the event was held by the Bishop of Rzeszów, Jan Wątroba. Catholic Radio Via provided media patronage for the event.
