For the first time after the summer break, Leo XIV greeted the Poles who arrived for the Wednesday audience. This time it took place not in the Square, but in St. Peter’s Basilica due to the high temperatures.
The Pope emphasized that the pilgrims heading to Jasna Góra are spiritually accompanied by the faithful in their parishes. “Along with you, I pray for peace in the world and for new priestly and religious vocations,” the Holy Father said to the Poles today.
Here is the full text of the papal message to the Poles:
“I cordially greet the Poles. In these days, walking pilgrims are heading to Jasna Góra from many Polish dioceses, spiritually accompanied by the faithful in their parishes. May this testimony, the hardship of the journey, shared prayer, and meeting with Mary strengthen the faith and hope of families and communities. Along with you, I pray for peace in the world and for new priestly and religious vocations. I bless you all!”.
Pilgrims present from Poland and abroad
The audience was attended by numerous individual pilgrims from Poland and abroad, including: a group of pilgrims from Stąporków in the Diocese of Radom, pilgrims from the Parish of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, in Smęgorzów (Diocese of Tarnów), altar servers with their guardians from the Parish of St. Urban in Wola (Archdiocese of Katowice), pilgrims from the Cathedral Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Włocławek, pilgrims from the Parish of St. Joseph in Maków Mazowiecki (Diocese of Płock), as well as pilgrims from the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Lubojna (Archdiocese of Częstochowa), including members of the Liturgical Altar Service serving in that parish.
