The Middle East, with particular attention to the West Bank and Lebanon, and some reflections on the recent papal trip to Africa – these were the main topics of the telephone conversation that took place today, Wednesday, April 29, between Pope Leo XIV and António Costa, President of the European Council.
“During the cordial conversation – informs a statement from the Holy See Press Office – the situation in the Middle East was discussed,” with particular attention to the West Bank in Palestine and the situation of Christians in southern Lebanon.
Further in the conversation, as reported by the statement, the Holy Father “shared some reflections on his recent apostolic journey to Africa, emphasizing the importance of interreligious dialogue, the promotion of peace, and support for the most vulnerable communities on that continent.”
