OLX – Kamil Szabłowski PR and Communication Manager
This year’s May long weekend, although short, will be an opportunity for 42% of Poles to travel[1]. It can be expected that, in addition to the most popular destinations, we will increasingly choose smaller, more intimate towns. This is confirmed by OLX data, which shows that the largest percentage increase in interest in accommodation in 2026 concerned precisely this type of city. However, this does not change the fact that although we searched for accommodation less frequently in typically tourist towns, they still enjoy immense popularity. Consistently at the forefront of the cities we choose are: Gdańsk, Warsaw, Kraków, and Zakopane. An interesting fact, however, is that while Gdańsk was the undisputed leader of this classification during last year’s May long weekend, Warsaw took the lead during this year’s Easter period.
- The Polish tourist map is constantly changing. Smaller towns are increasingly marking their presence on it. It is there, according to our data, that many Poles seek peaceful rest. At the same time, the popularity of traditional destinations is not waning. This means that tourist traffic is expanding its circles, thereby creating opportunities for rest tailored to the individual needs of each of us – says Kamil Szabłowski, PR & Communication Manager OLX.
An analysis of OLX data, covering last year’s May long weekend trips, clearly shows that spending this time in a larger group has become standard. Most inquiries concerned properties for four people, which may suggest family trips (over 71,000), but very high interest was also recorded for places intended for groups of six (33,700), and even twenty people (26,900). This trend is reflected in the types of properties chosen – houses (over 93,000 inquiries) and apartments (over 80,000), which offer more space and privacy, were most frequently sought. Campsites enjoyed significantly less popularity. This situation shows that Poles are increasingly organizing the May long weekend with family or friends, looking for accommodation adapted to a larger number of guests. It can also be expected that this year’s preferences of Poles will be very similar. The motivation may be not only the desire to spend time with family and friends, but also the cost, especially since as many as 23% of us want to keep expenses for this purpose between PLN 500 and PLN 1000[2].
