“His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received with deep pain the news of the tragic road accident involving pilgrims returning from Međugorje, as a result of which some lost their lives and others suffered severe injuries.
Expressing his spiritual closeness to all affected by this tragic event, the Holy Father offers special prayers for those brothers and sisters who, while returning from a pilgrimage of faith, ended their earthly pilgrimage. Entrusting them to Divine Mercy, he implores the Lord for the gift of consolation for the grieving families.
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Częstochowa, he commends everyone to God and cordially imparts his apostolic blessing as a sign of paternal closeness and Christian hope.”
In the accident involving a bus of Polish pilgrims returning from Međugorje, 12 people died and 10 are in critical condition. The tragic incident took place in Hungary on the M3 motorway on the night of August 15 to 16, after the vehicle veered off the road.
