Addressing the faithful gathered in Castel Gandolfo, the Pope assured that he is following with concern the events in countries affected by war and violence. “Let us not forget those who suffer and die because of conflicts. Alongside generous commitment to peace, let our persistent prayer not be lacking,” said Leo XIV.
The Holy Father also expressed gratitude to the residents of Castel Gandolfo for their hospitality during his summer stay and joyfully welcomed pilgrims who arrived from various parts of the world.
Among those greeted were members of the Cenacolo community, which for over 40 years has been helping people with addictions overcome them, participants of the New Families movement belonging to the Focolare Movement, students from Mexico taking part in the APRA Summer School, participants of the Catholic Worldview Fellowship program, as well as young members of the Regnum Christi movement, participating in an international course for formators.
Leo XIV also greeted the participants of “The Lion Pilgrimage,” led by Bishop Anthony Percy, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Sydney, families and children cared for by the Sisters of Charity of the Assumption from Rome, youth from the parish of San Salvatore in Gerusalemme, and a youth group from the parish of St. Augustine in Bovolenta.
Finally, the Pope extended a special greeting to the pilgrims of the Liturgical Academy from Rzeszów, who are participating in formation dedicated to liturgy and the life of the Church.
