The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Italian Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, was kept informed of the events. He assured his support and assistance to the local residents affected by the illegal actions of Israeli settlers. The Patriarchate demanded that the Israeli authorities take steps to ensure that similar acts of aggression and occupation of church lands do not recur.
