Fr. Łukasz Bankowski – Vatican
No further oncological treatment needed
The statement issued on October 26 recalled that the surgery of Leo XIV was successful and without complications. Subsequent tests confirmed that the disease was localized and there is no need for further oncological treatment.
Dr. Luigi Carbone reported that the latest tests confirm the Holy Father’s good state of health and favorable clinical picture. Both the Pope’s current condition and the results of imaging and laboratory tests make it possible to undertake the planned apostolic journey.
Duties and time for rest
Since returning to the Vatican, Leo XIV has been gradually resuming his activities. In consultation with his doctors, he is adjusting his daily schedule so that convalescence remains the priority while he continues to fulfill his duties related to the papal ministry.
“Open our hearts to one another”
Leo XIV looks forward to the journey with great joy and enthusiasm. The visit aims to strengthen ties with local Churches, support the faithful in their mission, and bring a message of faith, hope, and peace to the peoples of Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru.
“I am happy to return to the continent where I have experienced so many moments of my life. May this journey be an opportunity to open our hearts to one another, strengthen our communion as brothers and sisters, and renew our commitment to proclaiming the Gospel with joy!” the Holy Father emphasized.
