Safety belts save lives. Buckle up on every ride. Alcohol impairs judgment, perception, reaction time and coordination. If your celebrating involves alcohol, your ability to walk or drive safely is compromised. Find safe alternatives to driving or walking under the influence. You can offer friends and relatives a place to stay, pay for a taxi, or designate a sober driver.
And now, as always, encourage your friends and family to drive safely, slow down, avoid distractions such as talking on a cell phone or texting and look out for pedestrians and cyclists.
If you are on foot or on bike, please remember to follow all traffic rules and stay visible, using brightly colored clothing and lights for cyclists, especially at night.
