The Buffalo News in its publication used the term "Polish Death Camp"
29 marca, 2019
The Polish American Congress Western New York Division and the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, Maciej Golubiewski, issued strongly worded letters to the Publisher of the BN addressing the matter. The following letter is from the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, Maciej Golubiewski, to the Buffalo News regarding their use of the term "Polish Death Camp" in an article which appeared on February 12th in the publication. To date, the Buffalo News has not issued a response to either communication.
Not long ago the Washington Post published an article announcing VP Pence's visit to Poland and the Auschwitz death camp. The article was correctly titled. However, the Buffalo News Editorial staff chose to "retitle" the article and purposefully use the term "Polish Death Camp" in the title.
Since the article's publication, the Anti-Discrimination Committee of the Polish American Congress, Western New York Division convened and made recommendations for addressing the matter which stands as an affront to Poland, Polish citizens, and individuals of Polish descent.
A 5 page letter with exhibits was forwarded by the Polish American Congress to the publisher of the Buffalo News on February 26th addressing the purposeful use of the term, "Polish Death Camp," in its publication. To date there has been no response.
