Polish-American Bridge - Art Contest 2010 by the Nowodworski Foundation

CONTEST RULES
Nowodworski Foundation invites all students age 10 to 17 living within the United States to participate in the “Polish-American Bridge” Art Contest 2010. Only original (1) one art work, not published before can be submitted for the Contest.

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION
The artwork shall present an image or design expressing an idea of a “bridge” connecting United States and Poland. We leave open to students’ imagination how to translate the meaning contained in the word “bridge” to an idea or in what way it will be constructed or presented in an artwork. Authors can select one of two techniques: painting or collage.

FORMAT of artwork must be 11” x 17” Tabloid, including 1 1/4” matting, on white or color paper.

DEADLINE for submission is March 10th 2010. Artwork shall be mailed to: Nowodworski Foundation, 18 Central Way, Purdys, NY 10578. Artwork shall include the following information on the back: fi rst and last name of the author, age, address, and tel. number and e-mail address.

The purpose of the contest is to:

  • Raise awareness about Poland in the United States
  • Fostering cultural connections between the American and Polish nations within population of young American and Polish-American students
  • Inspiring artistic expression with use of art as a medium
  • Instilling cultural values as openness, understanding and interest to know other cultures
  • In addition the contest award will invigorate interest in travel to Poland, which is still exotic destination for most Americans.


Jury will comprise of known Polish-American Artists, representatives of the General Consulate of Poland in New York and Nowodworski Foundation.

AWARDS
First Award will cover land cost to participate in the 3 weeks International Art Camp 2010 visiting Poland, Austria and Slovakia, value of $1800. Other awards and diplomas. Results of the Contest will be announced on March 25th, during the Art Work Exhibit hosted by the Consul General of Poland in New York, at DeLamar Mansion, 233 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10016. All art-works submitted for the Contest will become ownership of the Nowodworski Foundation and will not be returned to the authors.
