During the meeting, Dr. Kamil Ruszała will introduce the modern era, encompassing the long 19th century, a time of numerous revolutions. They were not limited to the events that began in Paris in 1789 but also included the later revolts of the 1920s. , 30. and 40. 19th century in different parts of Europe. In addition to political upheaval, there were also economic and social revolutions related to the Industrial Revolution and its accompanying transformations, for example. owning boys and their consequences, which significantly changed the social structure. During the meeting, the most important issues of the era of acceleration will be discussed, with special emphasis on the fact that great historical events mainly involved ordinary people and acting actors in these changes in the long 19th century. Examples from the lands of Poland, the area of Central-Eastern Europe, and the former Republic of Both Nations, which in the discussed period were at the contact of three different empires, will be presented based on the archive collections of the Józef Piłsudski Institute in America.

Dr. Kamil Ruszała - a historian, studied at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, the University of Vienna, and Charles University in Prague, adjunct at the Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University. It deals with social, economic, and political events of Middle-Eastern Europe, the 19th century, with special attention to Austro-Hungary and Galicia, World War I, the collapse of empires and the post-imperial space, the social and political transformation of 1918. , places of remembrance, and heritage of war. Author m. in. : The Galician Exodus. Refugees during World War I in the Habsburg monarchy (Cracow 2020). Scholar of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2016/2017), including the Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists (2023-) and the Polish Science Foundation (2017/2018). As a guest researcher or visiting lecturer, he was involved in internships in Denmark, Austria, the USA, Belgium, France, Greece, and Italy. Manager of several research projects in World War I, war refugees, and heritage wars.
