Meet filmmaker Monika Mazanek-Wilczyńska on November 5th at 5pm in Galeria for a special viewing of her documentary “We Served with the Americans”.

“We Served with the Americans”/ “Służyliśmy u Amerykanów” is an award-winning documentary that shines a light on the forgotten story of Poles who served in the American armed forces during the Cold War. The film focuses on Franciszek Nowak, who, after escaping from Poland, in the 1980s, found employment in the American Army in Germany and had the opportunity to meet Poles working in the Guard and Technical units of the American Army.

Following a film screening in Polish with English subtitles, filmmaker Monika Mazanek-Wilczyńska will join us for a conversation about the film and her documentary journalism moderated by Dr. Alicja Karlic, editor of the Polish Media Center at the Polish Institute for Culture & Research and editor of the Polish Weekly.
