Other individuals receiving the PAC designation were Dr. William Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights and Bogdan Chmielewski, CEO of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union.

Rev. Lipski is chaplain of the newly formed Long Island Chapter of the Congress.  After Poland's Solidarity Movement brought down the Communist system in 1989, Father Lipski was sent on assignment to Montreal, Canada before going to St. Hyacinth's Church in Glen Head, Long Island.  On completing eight years there, he came to St. Hedwig's in 2006.

The Congress also honored the Polish Singers Alliance of America, District Seven with its 2008 Organizational Award for Distinguished Service.

The Polish Singers Alliance of America was established in 1889. Its member choirs and choral groups aim to preserve the Polish heritage of music and song and to promote the works of Polish composers.

Mr. Wolny is also a longtime member of the famous Oginski Men's Choir which regularly performs at Polish patriotic and religious observances on Long Island.  He is a resident of Hicksville, N.Y.

"Individuals like Janusz Wolny and Father Lipski typify the caliber of the people who constitute the foundation of the PAC's Long Island Chapter.  Their contribution bodes well for our success," said Richard Brzozowski who heads the new unit formed by the Downstate N.Y. Division of the Polish American Congress.
