Brooklyn, NY. Frank Spula, National President of the Polish American Congress (left), congratulates Bozena Kaminski on her election to a third term as his organization’s Vice President for Polish Affairs. Her husband, Andrew Kaminski (right); adds his congratulations to Mr. Spula’s.

Her impressive victory took place at the October 25th semi-annual national directors meeting the Congress held in Chicago.

Although the Obama-Romney presidential race produced claims that a “War on Women” was introduced into the 2012 elections, the charges failed to gain any serious traction.

In the Polish American Congress elections, however, the “War on Women” became quite evident and “a little bit nasty” as well. It was a war on Mrs. Kaminski waged by her male opponents who were so determined to stop her that one of them dropped out of the race just to give his votes to the other to make sure she was defeated.

Even this tactical maneuver fell short of convincing enough delegates at the Chicago meeting to hold back their support of her. Despite the glowing praise her remaining opponent’s campaign literature showered on him, Mrs. Kaminski’s proven record of important accomplishments as liaison between the Polish American Congress and the Polish government won her the votes she needed.

Mrs. Kaminski is also an officer of the Downstate New York Division of the Polish American Congress and Executive Director of the Polish & Slavic Center in Greenpoint, N.Y.
