In 1940, Józefa and her family were deported from Poland to Siberia. Upon her release under the Sikorski–Mayski agreement, she left the Soviet Union with Anders’ Army and, via Persia, reached the settlement for Polish refugees in Valivade, India, in 1943.
The film tells the story of her stay in Valivade, where she tries to start a new life and find her sister, from whom she was separated by the war. It is a moving story of survival, separation, hope, and human solidarity, which also recalls the assistance that India provided to nearly 5,000 Polish refugees during World War II.
The event will take place mainly in English, with elements of Polish.
