According to Poles (1), the best time to carry out renovation and construction works, regardless of their type, is spring (36% of responses). OLX data indicates a similar trend. Advertisements in categories related to construction services, as well as external and gardening works, enjoy the greatest popularity from March to September. The peak interest falls precisely at the beginning of spring – March and April.
– The first months after winter are a crucial time for all garden work. This is when we prepare the area for the season – from pruning shrubs, through lawn regeneration, to the first care treatments. From the perspective of contractors, this is a very intense time, because many people want to finish tidying up before the season starts and ensure that the space around the house is ready for spending time outdoors – says Kamil Szabłowski, PR consultant at OLX.
According to the Fixly report, external works – such as garden care, paving works, or fence installation – are among the most frequently commissioned to specialists. Spring is also a popular time for thermal modernization works, which as many as 78% of respondents in the report would commission to professionals.
– The availability of subsidies, such as the thermal modernization relief or the “Clean Air” program, means that more and more people are deciding to invest in improving the energy efficiency of their homes. Spring is a natural time to carry out such works – in the Fixly study, as many as 41% of respondents indicated it as the most appropriate period of the year. This is also the time of greatest workload for contractors, so it is worth planning activities in advance to avoid delays – emphasizes Kamil Szabłowski, PR consultant at OLX.
Experts from the platform also observe increased interest in renting equipment for spring garden work, such as tillers and scarifiers, in the first months of spring. The number of advertisements in this category in March of this year increased by almost 40% compared to the analogous period in 2024.
– Renting gardening equipment is a convenient and economical solution. There is no need to invest in expensive equipment, look for storage space, or worry about technical inspections. We see that this trend is growing season by season. In spring, pressure washers, scarifiers, tillers, and saws, among others, are particularly popular. As OLX data shows, the peak interest in renting equipment falls in March and April – later it remains at a slightly lower but stable level throughout the season – adds Kamil Szabłowski, PR consultant at OLX.
Although most Poles are happy to perform simple tasks themselves (over 70% refresh interiors and carry out minor repairs on their own), when it comes to time-consuming and technical tasks, we prefer to trust professionals. 66% of respondents in the Fixly report declare that they are willing to postpone renovations if they would significantly hinder daily functioning – also in the case of garden and facade works. When choosing contractors, we most often (75%) rely on recommendations from family and friends, but online services, such as OLX, are gaining importance. In 2024 alone, the number of new service provider accounts on Fixly increased by 25% compared to the previous year.
