Meanwhile, in many such cases, we are dealing with a brain injury (TBI – Traumatic Brain Injury).
It was with such patients and their families in mind that I created the TBI Risk Assessment application, the goal of which is to increase awareness and support the early detection of a possible brain injury after an accident.
Why do brain injuries so often go undetected?
After an injury, many people are told that basic tests are “normal.” Unfortunately, not all nerve structure injuries are visible in standard imaging tests, and neurological symptoms can develop gradually, sometimes even weeks after the event.
In my practice, I often observe patients who report:
- headaches lasting for weeks
- dizziness and balance disorders
- memory and concentration problems
- hypersensitivity to light or noise
- sleep difficulties
- mood swings, irritability, anxiety
Without a properly directed neurological history, these symptoms may be overlooked, delaying proper diagnosis and treatment.
How does the TBI Risk Assessment application work?
The TBI Risk Assessment application was designed as an educational tool and support for early TBI risk assessment. The user goes through a short, structured questionnaire regarding the most common neurological and cognitive symptoms appearing after an accident.
I want to emphasize that the application:
- does not provide a medical diagnosis
- does not replace a medical consultation
- helps organize symptoms
- encourages further neurological diagnostics when needed
This simple tool can help patients and their loved ones understand more quickly that post-injury ailments are not “normal” and require professional evaluation.
A few words about my practice
I am Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, MD, a physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions and injury-related pain. I serve as Medical Director at Allied Neurology and Interventional Pain Practice, where I regularly treat patients after car accidents, work injuries, and other post-traumatic cases.
I am also the author of the book “Brain Impact: Navigating TBI After Accidents”, the second edition of which was created in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of specialists. My treatment philosophy is based on one principle: first a precise diagnosis, then targeted treatment.
