This year’s fundraiser was intended to help the children of firefighter Marek Dziemian, who was injured during a firefighting operation and has been in a coma since March 16 last year — 5-year-old Sophia and one-and-a-half-year-old Michael.
In the official part, speeches were given by: Joanna Gwóźdź, president of the Children’s Smile Foundation, who served as the host of the event, as well as the Foundation’s chaplain Father Grzegorz Markulak, Consul General Mateusz Sakowicz, the injured man’s wife Jacklyn Dziemian, and also the president of the FDNY Pulaski Association Stanley Trojanowski.
The artistic setting was provided by Andrew Michoń and Kris Forbot. The meeting was accompanied by an exhibition of artworks prepared by students of the St. John Paul II School of Polish Language and Culture from Maspeth. A silent auction was also held, featuring paintings by Mariusz Dąbrowski, Zbigniew Sokołowski, Ewa Zeller, and Mira Satryan.
We extend our words of gratitude to everyone present for such a large turnout, to sponsors and donors for their financial support, to artists for their performances, to volunteers for their commitment, and to the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland for providing the halls. We cordially invite you to browse the photo gallery.
