Humanitarian Awards Night on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Consulate General Jan Karski Bench in front of the Consulate General of Poland in New York
Jan Karski was a war hero who carried out missions for the Polish Government in exile. He also reported on the Nazi
Holocaust to Britain and the United States and tried to stimulate help for the Jewish populations of Eastern Europe. He would become a United States citizen and a professor at John Hopkins University.
The Jan Karski Humanitarian Award was established by The Polish-Jewish Dialogue Committee. This organization announced the selection of the three Honorees who will receive The 2016 Jan Karski Humanitarian Award.
Recipients to be honored at the this year Celebration are: Brooklyn Diocese Auxiliary Bishop Witold Mroziewski, celebrated television and radio host Rita Cosby, and a humanitarian and philanthropist Sigmunt Rolat. The Uma Family, Polish Righteous Christians who harbored Jewish neighbors at the cost of their own lives, will also be recognized.
The evening will feature a buffet.
