Robert Lewandowski scored his second hattrick in a row for the season, while Xabi Alonso, Franck Ribery, and Phillip Lahm each chipped in a goal.
It could quite easily be Bayern’s easiest match this season, since Werder Bremen offered absolutely no threat to Manuel Neuer besides one or two halfhearted attempts straight into his arms. It was always going to be difficult for the away side; having missed two of their most talented attackers in Claudio Pizarro and Max Kruse, yet they didn’t do themselves any favors playing with no pressure on the ball. This allowed the likes of Xabi Alonso and Arturo Vidal to pick passes at will. Overall it was the easiest match Carlo Ancelotti could have asked for in his first try. Up next will be Schalke for the current champions.
