The meeting began on August 4 with a solemn Holy Mass attended by cardinals, archbishops, and bishops from countries where the Knights of Columbus operate. On the same day, Pope Leo XIV addressed the convention participants in a video message.
Among the meeting participants are Bishop Sławomir Oder, ordinary of the Diocese of Gliwice, and Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki, Latin Metropolitan of Lviv.
Recognition for the initiative for war widows
Bartoszko drew special attention to the distinction awarded to one of the councils of the Knights of Columbus from Ukraine.
As the Polish delegate reported, the award was received by a council “that organized a pilgrimage for the widows of fallen soldiers.” “Knights from Poland participated in and supported this initiative,” Bartoszko added.
During the solemn awards session, thanks were also given to the former State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus in Poland, Tomasz Wawrzkowicz. Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly expressed his gratitude for his “service and work for the Order.”
Common prayer and discussion about the future
The convention will last until August 6. Its participants will discuss the future of the organization, the works being carried out, and the tasks facing the Knights of Columbus.
“This is a time not only of work, but a time of fraternal meeting, common prayer, joint reflection on the future of the Order, on the works that we must accomplish, on the tasks that face our Order,” said Bartoszko.
In conclusion, the State Deputy asked Vatican Radio listeners for prayer “for the intention of good fruits of the Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus.”
