Seeking the Common Good
Referring to the summit’s name (AI for Good), Cardinal Parolin alludes to the encyclical Magnifica humanitas, in which Leo XIV expressed the desire to engage in dialogue with all people of our times, to „together with them seek new paths towards the common good and the promotion of a dignified life for all”.
The Secretary of State of the Holy See, assuring readiness for dialogue on „one of the most important questions of our times concerning the future of humanity”, recalls the words of the Pope, who on May 25 this year, presenting his first encyclical, emphasized that it was born from listening to „scientists and engineers who work with true zeal on technologies that can alleviate immense suffering; political leaders and government officials who persistently strive to establish just principles; parents and teachers who deeply care about the future of younger generations”.
Historic Summit
The meeting, organized by the International Telecommunication Union in cooperation with other UN agencies, gathered representatives of member states, scientists, and companies involved in artificial intelligence. The summit aims to develop solutions serving the common good, build networks of contacts and experiences, and ensure the safe development of AI technology.
