Fr. Marek Weresa – Vatican
“Dramatic Hours”
This is how the Holy Father described the situation in the Middle East and Iran. He recalled: “Stability and peace are not built by mutual threats or by using weapons, which sow destruction, pain and death, but only through reasonable, authentic and responsible dialogue.”
The Pope appealed to the parties involved to take “moral responsibility for stopping the spiral of violence before it becomes an irreversible abyss!” in the face of the threat of a tragedy of immense proportions.
Leo XIV added: “May diplomacy regain its role and may the good of peoples who desire peaceful coexistence based on justice be promoted. And let us continue to pray for peace.” The Holy Father also recalled the clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan; he made an “urgent plea for a return to dialogue.”
Cataclysm in Brazil
Words of spiritual closeness were addressed to the residents of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. This region has been hit by violent floods. “I pray for the victims who have lost their homes, and for all those involved in rescue operations,” the Pope said.
