"Polish Americans Today" - Piast Institute Announces Eighth Annual Dekaban Lecture

October 31, 2010

Hamtramck, MI – Dr. Thaddeus C. Radzilowski, President of the Piast Institute will deliver the 2010 Dekaban Lecture entitled “Polish Americans Today,” on December 1, 2010 at the Michigan State University Center in Detroit located at 3408 Woodward Avenue.

This year’s lecture is being co-sponsored by the History Department of Michigan State University. Attendance is complimentary, but seating is limited, so reservations are suggested. The lecture is scheduled for 6:30pm, and coffee and discussion will follow. Parking is available on Erskine Street immediately adjacent to the facility. Security will be present.

According to Institute Executive Vice President Virginia Skrzyniarz, Dekaban speakers have been noted scholars unaffiliated with the Institute from Europe and America such as Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alex Storozynski. “This year, however, we have asked our own distinguished President Dr. Radzilowski to give the address. He is the author with Piast Research Director Dominik Stecula of a major new study Polish Americans Today: A Survey of Polish American Leadership which surveyed 1,400 Polish American leaders and activists on important public and community issues. The lecture will draw on the key findings of the study and other research Dr. Radzilowski has done on the Polish American community.”

The initial reaction to the study has been very favorable. The Polish government has ordered copies for the President’s Chancery, members of the Cabinet, and the leadership of both houses of Polish Parliament. Copies of the study can be ordered at the lecture.
