Fr. Faltas emphasizes that the residents of Jerusalem’s Old City have no possibility of taking shelter in any bunker; there are no bunkers there, nor any possibility of building them or designating safe places for protection.

“A rocket fragment fell in the Shepherds’ Field in Beit Sahour near the Palestinian Chapel. It did not hit people and caused no damage, but its size is such that it is terrifying to even think about what could have happened,” says Fr. Faltas, adding that “rockets and drones are the hands and arms of those who do not want to see despair in the eyes of destroyed humanity, who do not touch innocent bodies deprived of life and guilt, who do not hear the silent cry of children’s pain.”

“Tonight, many rockets, about 200, launched from Lebanon, fell on northern Israel. Especially near the border with Lebanon, the situation is terrible, people are afraid. War spreads death and suffering among the Lebanese people, who are fleeing destroyed cities, without shelter from the cold, without food, and without care,” reports the Franciscan of the Custody of the Holy Land.

“How much pain in this blessed land!” says Fr. Faltas.
