Ambassador Krzysztof Szczerski, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations, will deliver a lecture in Miami titled “Poland and the US in the New World Disorder.” The event takes place on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 6 PM at the Kislak Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. Admission is free and open to the public; RSVP by November 12.
The lecture is presented by the University of Miami Center for the Humanities in collaboration with The American Institute of Polish Culture in Miami and the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland, and is part of the Lady Blanka Rosenstiel Endowed Program in Polish Heritage at the University of Miami. A reception will follow. For Polish Americans in South Florida, it is a rare opportunity to hear first-hand how Poland sees its place in today’s world and in its relationship with the United States.
What will Ambassador Szczerski talk about?
The title says a great deal: the “new world disorder” is a world in which the old rules of the international order no longer hold and alliances and institutions are being tested. Ambassador Szczerski will address the challenges of contemporary geopolitics and the Polish-American relationship, which, as the organizers emphasize, is built on shared values.
A separate theme will be Poland’s inclusion in the G20 ahead of the summit scheduled to take place in Miami in December 2026. The organizers describe this step as recognition of Poland’s growing economic role and of Central Europe’s voice in discussions about the future of the global economy. The Coral Gables event thus comes just weeks before a gathering that will draw the world’s attention to South Florida.
Who is Krzysztof Szczerski?
Krzysztof Szczerski is Poland’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. From his vantage point as a diplomat working daily at the center of multilateral politics, a conversation about Poland and the United States reaches beyond bilateral relations: it touches on security, the economy, and Central Europe’s place in global decision-making.
The lecture is addressed both to the Polish American community and to the University of Miami’s academic audience: students, faculty, and Coral Gables residents interested in international affairs.
Who is organizing the event?
The American Institute of Polish Culture is a Miami-based institution that has promoted Polish culture, history, and heritage in Florida for decades through lectures, cultural events, and partnerships with universities. The Lady Blanka Rosenstiel Endowed Program in Polish Heritage at the University of Miami is the program that gave Polish topics a permanent home at one of South Florida’s largest universities.
Ambassador Szczerski’s lecture is the latest event in that program and, at the same time, an invitation for Polish Americans from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and the surrounding area to visit the Coral Gables campus.
The Kislak Center is located on the University of Miami’s main campus in Coral Gables, at 1300 Memorial Drive. The organizers ask guests to RSVP by November 12 via the organizer’s website.
