Chrysler said it has also outpaced the overall industry sales rate for the 12th month in a row, thanks in part to its broad portfolio of fuel-efficient vehicles.
“A few years ago higher fuel prices were a major threat to our total vehicle sales whereas today those higher prices have become far less of an issue,” Reid Bigland, who heads Chrysler’s US sales, said in a statement.
“We now have 13 vehicles with an EPA-rated highway fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon or higher, and six of those vehicles get 31 mpg or higher.”
In February, the sales surge was led by a 126 percent jump in cars sales to 133,521 vehicles, while truck sales rose 20 percent.
