The sixth part of the photo report from the 89th Pulaski Day Parade primarily features Staten Island and the younger generation of the Polish-American community. Behind the “Staten Island, NY” banner rolled skaters, followed by the St. John Paul II Polish School from St. Stanislaus Kostka parish on Staten Island.
There is also Miss Polonia of Rockland County in a convertible, a float featuring a thatched-roof cottage, sunflowers, and a stork on the roof, as well as figures in fairy-tale lace costumes. The Polish Youth Association marched with a large banner.
Polish student clubs fielded their own contingents: NYU, Montclair State University, Columbia University, Fordham University, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. They are followed by the Westchester County Pulaski Association, St. Matthew’s parish from Ridgewood and Glendale with a float, the General Pulaski Association from Orange County, a vintage tractor, and a float carrying parade queens. This section concludes with the South Brooklyn Pulaski Parade Committee from the parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa and St. Casimir.
