89th Pulaski Day Parade in New York. Photo report, part 2: Polonaise on Fifth Avenue

The second part of the photo report from the 89th Pulaski Day Parade begins with the polonaise. At the intersection in front of the reviewing stand, dancers in folk costumes led the marshals and parade guests in a dance, and Fifth Avenue turned into a ballroom for a few minutes.

At the Grand Marshal’s tribune, Dr. Iwona Korga was welcomed in the old Polish tradition with bread. The photos show her wearing the “Grand Marshal 2026” sash, surrounded by contingent marshals, clergy, journalists from Polish-American radio stations, and photojournalists.

Next come the uniformed services. There is the band and color guard of the New York Police Department, officers from the NYPD Pulaski Association, the Port Authority Police Polish-American association, and bagpipers in plaid kilts.

Following them are firefighters from the Pulaski Association and fire trucks: vintage vehicles, a modern “Ladder 343 – Never Forget” truck commemorating the firefighters who died on September 11, and a red truck from the Siedlanka Volunteer Fire Department.

Photos from this section also feature prominent figures of the Polish-American community and parade guests: Piotr Praszkowicz with his wife Dorota from PDP Contracting, Inc., Arthur Dybanowski from Arthur’s Funeral Chapels, Inc. in Greenpoint, and, as every year, Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels organization.
