Defenders of Life emphasized that the aggressive stance of, among others, extremely feminist circles cannot justify neglecting care and concrete actions for the right to life of every human being from conception. Wojciech Zięba, president of the Polish Association of Defenders of Human Life, drew attention to one of the important challenges, which is the upbringing and education of the younger generation in the spirit of respect for life.
Defenders of life also appeal to politicians and journalists not to be guided by ideological prejudices and to formulate public discourse based on reliable scientific knowledge. They consider the use of the human right to life for political purposes unacceptable.
This year’s meeting at Jasna Góra was also an opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Association of Defenders of Human Life, to recall the beginnings of pro-life activities, which date back to 1980 and are closely linked to pilgrimages to Jasna Góra. They became a response to the call contained by St. John Paul II in the encyclical “Evangelium vitae”: “A great prayer for life, which is to permeate the whole world, is urgently needed.”
