Symbolic scarf from the First Lady at the Children’s Smile Foundation auction”

This coming Saturday, February 7, during the prestigious Valentine’s Ball in Queens, a unique charity auction will take place. Guests gathered at Terrace on The Park will have the opportunity to bid on a unique gift donated by the Spouse of the President of Poland, Marta Nawrocka. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Children’s Smile Foundation, which has been helping children in need for nearly three decades.

Polish history woven on silk

The main item up for auction will be an exclusive Lilou scarf from the “Tale 48.4” collection. It is not just a piece of clothing, but above all, an artistic tribute to Polish tradition. The design, originally drawn with a pen and transferred to 100% silk, contains as many as 48 symbols inextricably linked with Polish identity.

On the hand-rolled fabric, one can find icons of the Polish landscape and architecture, such as the Warsaw Mermaid, Krakow’s Cloth Hall, Gdańsk Shipyard, Katowice Spodek, and the majestic Giewont. The composition is complemented by four intercultural symbols of happiness: the Japanese Koi fish, the Egyptian Scarab, the Greek Butterfly, and the American Dragonfly.

Continuation of a beautiful tradition

The gift was accompanied by a personal letter from the First Lady with the words: “With sincere thanks for supporting the charitable initiative organized by the Children’s Smile Foundation”.

Wojciech Maślanka, Executive Director of the Foundation, does not hide his gratitude for this gesture. He emphasizes that Marta Nawrocka continues the noble tradition initiated by her predecessor, Agata Kornhauser-Duda. – We are very pleased and incredibly happy that the charitable work of our foundation […] has been noticed and appreciated by the First Lady of Poland – notes Maślanka, expressing hope that the auction will raise significant funds to help sick children, as has been the case in previous years.

A treat for football fans

The scarf from the First Lady is not the only attraction of the evening. Participants of the Ball will also be able to compete for a sports souvenir donated by the Consulate General of Poland in New York. An FC Barcelona jersey signed by Robert Lewandowski will be up for auction. This item is particularly unique because it was signed by the captain of the Polish national team right after the historic ceremony of lighting up the Empire State Building in Polish national colors.
