Allied Neurology & Interventional Pain Practice Held Great Medico-Legal Seminar

The seminar opened with Dr. Nasiek thanking Oradell Imaging, the sponsors of the event, for their help in organizing the event. Dr. Nasiek also introduced Hackensack Surgical Center – where he performs the majority of his pain procedures – represented by Mrs. Marcella Miller, Office Administrator, Bernarde Garcia, Director of Nursing, and Kem Spencer.

Finally, Melissa Spethmann, Allied Neurology marketing coordinator, was thaned for her help with organizing these events over the last year, and Dr. Nasiek wished her the best luck in her future endeavors.

After these opening remarks, Dr. Yaldar presented on EEG and Tele EEG and the importance of its use on patients with traumatic brain injury and subsequent seizures disorder. Within this presentation, Dr. Yaldar stressed that 58% of patients miss their TBI diagnosis in cases initially evaluated in the Emergency Room. Even when performing normal EEG studies, posttraumatic seizures are missed due to short duration of the study. It is only ability when patients are observed in ambulatory settings - like home, work, etc – that the majority of seizures in suffering patients are discovered. Such a failure to diagnosis of TBI, PCS, or a seizure disorder has significant implications on future treatments and prognosis. Therefore, the use of Tele EEG for the proper duration of time is essential.

After Dr. Yaldar’s presentation, Dr. Nasiek reviewed the available treatments for COVID19 pre-hospital. Based on the study titled "Early Ambulatory Multidrug Therapy Reduces Hospitalizations and Deaths in High-Risk Patients with COVID-19” published in Interferential Journal of Innovative Research in Medical Science Vol. 6 No. 03(2021), Dr. Nasiek outlined the study’s protocol for early treatment of COVID patients with multiple medications. The study showed that such early intervention provided a high success rate in avoiding hospitalization by 87.6% and death by 74.9% - both staggering numbers.

Both presentations were followed by questions and a lively discussion in which the study and the implementation of a daily practice was stressed, as it allows for early treatment of patients with COVID19, an important things as we approach the fall and winter season and likelihood of increased COVID cases.
