Annual Members' Meeting

February 04, 2012

We encourage you to participate in our Annual Meeting. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions, review the past year and take a look at what is planned for the upcoming year. You'll be able to get to know and vote for the Board of Directors and really have an impact on the Credit Union's future.

The following candidates were nominated to run in the 2012 elections.

Tadeusz Brzozowski

Graduated from New York University with a master’s degree in Engineering. Obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from NY College of Aeronautics. Former President of the United Poles in America Enterprises, Inc. Retired from Foster Wheeler Inc., where he was the Principle Project Engineer responsible for design, construction and precommissioning of oil refi neries, pharmaceutical facilities, power, chemical and desalination plants.

Extremely involved in the community by volunteering his expertise and time to various organizations, such as: United Poles in America (ZPA), Elizabeth contingent of the Pulaski Parade Committee, Pulaski Cadets, American Legion and St. Hedwig’s RCC in Elizabeth, where he’s an usher and an engineering advisor to the Parish’s restoration project.

Does not shy away from taking on challenges and responsibilities, which demand maturity, loyalty and steadfast character, which in his opinion make that “certain business people and board members [are] more successful than others.”

Served on the Board of Directors of Unites Poles FCU in the past. Promises to “make right decisions that will benefit our United Poles FCU members, our Polish organizations, and our entire community, while paying special attention to the needs of our FCU members.“

If elected, “will continue to work in the best interest of the United Poles FCU, its members and our community by working with a strong and responsive Board.”

Maria Grzegorski

Emigrated from Poland in 1974. Member of the United Poles Federal Credit Union for 18 years and a volunteer on the Board of Directors for 13 years, working on the Supervisory and Loan Committees. For the past 6 years, she has been serving as a director on the Board of Directors. She was also a volunteer with the ZPA committee and the Polish School, where her two daughters graduated from the Polish Supplementary School.

As a director of United Poles FCU for the past six years, she attended numerous workshops and has learned valuable information to help carry out her position on the Board of United Poles FCU.

She has been a part of the Polish community in the Perth Amboy area since 1978. Over the years, she witnessed the community and its needs change, finding it very important to represent the perspective of all members, from children to seniors, from the new members to those with long-standing accounts.

Waldemar (Walter) J. Szuba

Graduated from ELWRO Technical High School for Electronics Specialists. Immigrated to the United States in 1974. Since 1987 has been operating his own construction business.

Has been interested in politics as well as social issues since teen years in Poland. Elected a R Councilman of South River City Council in 1991 and served as Town Budget Committee Liaison and also Police, Fire, First Aid Committee Liaison. These activities contributed greatly to his experience as a public sector administrator especially in the area of tax based municipal funds and their economical and rational distribution among all parties. Aft er many years of public service he has also gained experience in reading/interpreting municipal, county, state, and corporate laws and regulations.

He’s member and former VP of Polish –American Congress, Division of New Jersey. He also belongs to United Poles in America in Perth Amboy, NJ where he serves as Secretary. Chairman of the United Poles Enterprises Inc. Audit Committee for the past 9 years. Member of Polish Army Veterans Association of America Post 208 in South River, New Jersey. UPFCU Board of Directors member since April 2010.

His vast experience in the public service will help him manage, plan, and work on improvements very effectively. Values the reputation, trust, and prestige of Unites Poles FCU and will proudly represent this financial institution.

When asked how he’s best represent the Credit Union, Mr. Szuba states: “UPFCU is a Polish-American financial institution originated by the UNITED POLES IN AMERICA , therefore it has been and should be first and foremost obligated to assist its members’ financial needs. It is also devoted to supporting Polish language schools because our educated youth is what we value most.”

Petitions will be made available to all interested at each of United Poles FCU offices on January 3, 2012. To be effective, nominations by petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee or nominees stating that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office. Petitions must be received by the Secretary at one of the Credit Union offices by the end of business on February 29, 2012.
