Lets Help David, Young Polish American, Battle Severe Crohn's Disease

www.gofundme.com     July 27, 2019

David is suffering everyday.

He has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Anemia, and has many other associated conditions as a result of his diagnosis. For the past year, he has been bedridden and requires intensive, daily care. His single mother is doing everything in her power to help him; financially, mentally and physically.

He does not respond to conventional medication, and is getting progressively worse. After years of different therapies, their savings have run out, and available treatment options are now out of their financial reach.

As of June, David has been lucky to be introduced and begin a new treatment in a specialized private clinic in New York City, but he needs your help in order to continue this treatment to completion. This treatment is very expensive, and is not covered by insurance. Medical cost, transportation, extensive dietary needs, weekly IV infusions and other necessities exceeds thousands of dollars per week. There are also other therapy options in Germany and Israel, but they are unattainable without your help.  This is our last hope.

We thank you in advance for your generosity, contributions, prayers of recovery and help in spreading this link so we can raise enough funds to get David a chance for life.

Below, you can read in more details about his story and current condition:

Seven years ago at the age of 20, David was a happy, young man with passions and big dreams. He was a hard working college student pursuing degrees in psychology and chemistry. Since he was a little boy with a contagious smile, his altruistic personality pushed him to help others and make a positive difference. In his third year of college, the unexpected diagnosis of Crohn's disease was made. Crohn's disease is a chronic, autoimmune disease, which causes inflammation of the digestive tract.

At the beginning, David was optimistic, and hoped to get over the disease as there are cases of people who go into a long-term remission. He was ready to fight, and believed it was a matter of time and the right treatment. Unfortunately, David turned out to be one of the severe cases of Crohn's disease, and he did not respond to any treatments. As his symptoms have progressively gotten worse over the years, he was forced to drop out of college, and withdraw from his social life.

He is experiencing all of the typical symptoms associated with Crohn's disease, and many more. Main of which is uncontrollable diarrhea, in David's case it is 25-30 times a day, everyday, including restless nights, for 7 years. He has never had a single day of remission. David is struggling with severe fatigue and lack of energy. His body is not absorbing enough nutrients necessary for the proper functioning. His iron levels are undetectable and he has been diagnosed with anemia, which further contributes to his weakness. He has lost over 50 pounds of his natural weight.

David suffers from intense abdominal pains, joint pains and joint swelling, and as of June 2019 he has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. On top of his muscle atrophy, dehydration, and nausea. Last year, he was hospitalized twice. His recent exams showed multiple polyps in the colon and wide spread inflammation throughout the digestive tract. He has a high risk of cancer. In addition, he suffers from depression due to constant pain and inability to participate in social life for many years. He has lost his hope and strength.

We are doing everything we can to support him and inject him with hope that he can still get his life back. Currently, David is in a lot of pain, extremely weak and requires a wheelchair when going to his appointments. His previous attempts to walk on his own ended with fainting and blacking out.

Over the last seven years, David and his mom exhausted all of their savings for various treatments, medications, supplements, rehabilitation. Despite his worsening state and lack of financial means to continue the expensive treatments, we don't want to give up. Despite suffering from depression, we know David has sparks of hope deep inside his heart and wants to fight the disease as much as he can. He wants to get his life back. We are full of respect for him and proud of the determination of this young man, whose only dream is to live a healthy, quiet life.

We kindly ask you for help. We're at a point where we desperately need help, any contribution helps a lot. We believe that with your empathy and generosity we can improve David's health and take his pain away. We are asking for your help on behalf of David and his family. Please, please, send David warm wishes, prayers, and hopes for his recovery. In advance, we would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving them another chance.  -- Eduarda, David's Mom, and friends.

Thank you.
