The MTA says the maintenance work is largely tied to its ongoing signal modernization project, with crews using the service suspensions to install cable and equipment for the line’s new signaling system. Other changes are related to accessibility improvements, structural work, and track maintenance.
This week, from September 14th to the 18th, the MTA is running overnight suspensions between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs from 9:45pm to 5:00am each night, with free T403 shuttle buses covering the affected area making all stops. Starting at 10:45pm each night, southbound G trains continue running normally from Bedford-Nostrand Avs to Smith-9th Sts, then run express to Church Av, skipping the local stops in between. Please note, Coney Island-bound F trains will skip the same stops during this window and riders can take a Manhattan-bound F or Bedford-Nostrand Avs-bound G train instead.
During the same week, select Church Av-bound trains are skipping 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy during the morning and evening rush, from 7:45am to 9:30am and 6:45pm to 7:15pm. Riders affected by those skipped stops can take the F train or a local G train instead.
Further service changes are scheduled for this weekend, September 18th to the 21st, and again from October 9th to the 12th. Church Av-bound trains will again skip 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy from 10:45pm Friday to 5:00am Monday. Riders can take a Manhattan-bound F train or a Bedford-Nostrand Avs-bound G train instead.
A larger shutdown will follow from September 25th-28th when G trains won’t run at all between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs. Free shuttle buses will cover the route at that time. Southbound G service will again run normally to Smith-9th Sts before continuing express to Church Av, with Coney Island-bound F trains skipping the same local stops. Riders headed to or from those stations can take a Manhattan-bound F or Bedford-Nostrand Avs-bound G train instead.
Additional overnight disruptions are planned for September 21st-25th and October 5th-9th when both Coney Island-bound F and Church Av-bound G trains will skip 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy. Riders can take a Manhattan-bound F train or a Court Sq-bound G train instead.
Commuters can always check current service statuses and also sign up for alerts through the MTA’s planned service changes page.
