Remembering the victims and the injured
The Holy Father mentioned the anniversary of the attacks after the Angelus prayer. He remembered both those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and those who still bear the physical and spiritual scars of those events.
Leo XIV related the anniversary of the American tragedy to the current situation in the world. He pointed out that in the face of conflicts and violence affecting many people today, the response should be a prayer for the gift of peace.
Memory obligates us to build peace
The Pope emphasized that the remembrance of the tragic events from a quarter of a century ago should lead to a renewed commitment to peace. Prayer, which Leo XIV entrusted to the intercession of Mary, is of particular importance in this effort.

At the end, the Holy Father greeted the pilgrims who came to Rome from various countries, including groups from Brazil and Italy. He also addressed the motorcyclists gathered to demonstrate their support for peace and life.
